Ms. Eufemia C. Estrada, 1929-2015

A Tribute to a Beloved High School Teacher

Miss E was our high school paper adviser. She taught us to include statistics, quotes and anecdotes in our articles when we wrote for The Nucleus. Now, I tell this to my kids when they have to write an essay for school. Miss E, however, taught us more than just journalism. I was supposed to write about a certain topic and was having trouble coming up with something so I wanted to give up on the topic. Miss E said we shouldn't just drop projects like a hot potato whenever we encounter difficulty. She taught us commitment and perseverance. She got mad as us when we played "Spirit of the Glass". She taught us about the dangers of dabbling in the occult. When there was a push to limit families to only two children, we did an article on people around campus who wouldn't be alive if their parents had not welcomed more than two children in the family. She taught us the value of human life.

Thank you, Miss E, for the life lessons. Thank you for being a caring and dedicated teacher. Thank you for the cherished memories. May you rest in God's peace.

Rebecca Sangalang-Jordan, Masci'78.
